Liberty County voters will have the opportunity to elect three members to the Liberty County Central Appraisal District Board of Directors during the Nov. 3, 2026, general election.
People interested in serving on the board must complete several steps to qualify for a place on the ballot.
Prospective candidates must first sign an acknowledgment of the duties of a Liberty County Central Appraisal District director and file the completed document with Chief Appraiser Lana McCarty at the Liberty County Central Appraisal District office. Candidates must then submit an Application for a Place on the Ballot with the Liberty County Clerk’s Office. Applications will be accepted through Aug. 17, 2026, during normal business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Applicants must apply at the County Clerk’s office in the Liberty County Courthouse.

The Liberty County Central Appraisal District is responsible for appraising property within the county for ad valorem tax purposes. Its board of directors provides governance for the appraisal district, including adopting policies, approving the annual budget and overseeing the district’s operations. Board members do not determine individual property values.
These positions are typically four-year terms but one of the positions is being created through the election of incoming District Judge Joshua Fitzgerald, who is stepping aside to take the bench. More information on the available positions can be obtained through the Liberty County CAD office.
