Alice Dale Holloway, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away on Sept. 6, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born on Dec. 25, 1937, in Walnut, North Carolina, and lived a life marked by faith, devotion, love, and a steady commitment to caring for others.
Dale was a faithful servant to the Lord whose life reflected kindness, strength, and love. She was the bedrock and matriarch of her family, and her world revolved around her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Her proudest accomplishment was knowing that she had raised such a close and loving family. Dale was truly a people person. She rarely met a stranger and when she met one, within a few minutes, that person was no longer a stranger to her. Dale lived her life helping others, a calling she fulfilled in both quiet daily acts and in the many ways she gave of herself to those around her.
In her working years, Dale served as the receptionist for the Chief of Police of the Houston Police Department through various Chief’s tenure and was known to most as simply Ms. Dale. She was also an active member of Oak Shade Baptist Church in Cleveland, Texas, where she taught Vacation Bible School, sang in the church choir, and lovingly cared for many of the children within the church. Her church family and all who knew her were touched by her willing spirit and generous heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, M.L. “Red” Holloway, with whom she shared almost 60 years of marriage; by her stepfather, Jeter Davis; her mother, Grace Davis; her daughter, Darla Holloway; her brother, William “Nat” Davis; her sister, Sara Joann Gerber; and her grand daughter-in-law, Heather Holloway.
Dale leaves behind a family who will carry her love with them always. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Holloway; her son, Mark Holloway, and his wife, Blanda; her granddaughters, Crystal Garrison and her husband Mike, and Casey Holloway; her grandsons Clay Holloway, Clifton Holloway, and Tim Cavanaugh and his wife, Amanda. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Jake Garrison, his wife Carolyn, and their six children; Luke Garrison and his wife, Kyleigh; Burt Garrison and his fiancée, Leigha Heard; Eli Garrison, Levi Garrison, and Tyler Holloway, Hailey Holloway, Jordan Holloway, Madison Holloway, and Austin Holloway. She also leaves her niece, Dinky Van Dyke, and her sister-in-law, Judy Davis. The love she poured into her family will remain one of her most enduring gifts, and her memory will continue to live on in each of them.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Neal Funeral Home, 200 S Washington Ave, Cleveland, Texas 77327. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Neal Funeral Home, 200 S Washington Ave, Cleveland, Texas 77327. Interment will follow at Oak Shade Cemetery, 1807 County Road 2212, Cleveland, Texas 77327.
Dale Holloway will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her servant’s heart, and the deep love she gave so freely. Her presence was a blessing, and her legacy will remain in the family she cherished and the many lives she helped along the way.
